"Composing in Real Time"

This music workshop is geared towards advancing your knowledge in improvisation, composition and understand the necessary “rules” to becoming a versatile and proficient musician.

This workshop is specifically for the musician that is looking to gain an extra edge to their performance. Throughout this workshop will be a series of lectures, hands on learning through composing your own material, improvisation techniques for your composition, and an opportunity to perform your work at our closing event. Our intention is simple, to help musicians of all ages find their “sound” and to create an inspiring success within their craftmanship.

“Composing in Real Time” will be held for five days and is offered to any musician who is able to read music and has reached a beginner’s level on their instrument. Below is a schedule of our workshop sessions and what is planned for this event.

We have set up the workshop to accommodate as many ages and skill levels as we can. In the mornings we will be focusing on the beginner’s level students. This portion of learning will be for establishing fundamental approaches towards improvisation and composition and will give an accelerated success to their musical expressiveness. For our afternoons, the intermediate and advanced sessions will be diving a bit deeper into the understanding of chord changes, their functionality and how they can be manipulated to help create your unique approach to musical creativity.

At the end of the week, we will be having our students host a concert to showcase their work. In preparation for the concert, we will be having a dress rehearsal for all the students to get critiques from the instructors and share their work with the other students. After the dress rehearsal, we’ll have time to decompress with some pizza for the students and head to the park to mingle and enjoy food and outdoor games. The concert will begin at 5 pm on Friday starting with our beginners, proceeded by intermediate and advanced student compositions. The concert will be free for all parents, family, and friends to attend.

Pricing for the event is $200 for each student attending. Within that price they will receive a take home workbook chalked full of references for the future, a “Jazz Verbs Studios” T-shirt and will be added to the “Jazz Verbs Student Portal” for access to resources, sharing with other students, and extra learning materials.

We are offering a discount to all students who bring a friend. For both students, the price will be discounted to $175 per student.
